Name: Trud
Age: 16 (or thereabouts in equivalent time)
Height: 170 cm.

Background: Thor's second oldest child and only daughter. Her brother Modi is a few years younger, her half-brother Ullr quite a bit older and her other half brother Magni about five years old. Apprentice Valkyrie who, while allowed to participate in normal training, isn't allowed to partake in the battles with the other Valkyries and the Einherjar (yet, anyway). Tends to skip her shifts (hiding either in Sessrumnir with Freya or Ydalir with Ullr) serving mead and beer in Valhalla because of this, since it feels like she has to do work she gets no perks for.

Awkwardly managed to get herself engaged to a dwarf once, completely through accident and some tiny amount of trickery on his part to get her into an unknowing 'yes', both annoyed and relieved her father got her out of that (feels only a little sorry for the way Thor did it). Later got kidnapped by the giant Hrungir, after he had followed Odin into Valhalla and gotten unruly and drunk; Thor chases him out of Valhalla but doesn't catch up, and is forced to seek Hrungir out to rescue his daughter.
Does not have her own proper mount yet, and so borrows the more regular steeds when needed (or, sometimes, one of her father's goats. Hey, a mount is a mount, right? And they don't mind).

Knows the Valkyrie galdr to raise/choose a warrior for Valhalla (which is also used to heal the Einherjar at the end of battles in Valhalla).

Personality: Generally a cheerful young woman, she tends to get sarcastic when annoyed and can get moody pretty easily, especially when her skills or readiness regarding her duties are cast into doubt. Pretty fearless, especially when she's feeling made fun of or like people don't believe she can do much of anything.
Teeters between feeling annoyed at any protection at all and feeling secure knowing she has protection if she should need it - sometimes that knowledge makes her get into things she probably shouldn't, completely aside from doing things when she feels doubted.

Definitely has a romantic streak and can be rather trusting, but she knows this and tries to consciously be more sceptical, which sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. She's a good enough actor she can usually lie easily, but prefers not to.

As good with a needle as she is with a sword or a spear, and if you make fun of her being able to sew and embroider, or imply those are better skills and things she should engage in more than her combat training, prepare to fight. Has a surprisingly strong right hook, but she isn't as (super)naturally strong as either of her younger brothers. Has stolen Megingjord from her father more than once to make up for this (mostly because he refused her every time she asked, though lately he's given her permission to take it if she feels she needs it, as long as he doesn't need it).

Notes:
The galdr she knows:
Korpens vin rinna
ur kämpars lemmar
Dödliga sår
uppå dödliga ogjorda
Följ mig Fallna
till Valhalls glans
Svärdets å har dämts

(The raven's wine spills
from warriors' limbs
Mortal wounds
unto mortals undone
Follow me you fallen
to Valhalla's radiance
The sword's stream has been dammed)

And for a possible plot/conflict background to build on, a situation where certain important items have gone missing (Mjölnir, Gungir, Draupnir and Brisingamen) - of course, most of the Aesir think the giants are to blame, and maybe they are... Trud and her brothers wonder if it's quite that straightforward, though.
(Which could either lead to giants, still, or a second civil war with the Vanir.)

comments
